Understanding Mobile Notaries

Hi everyone! Since starting Now Or Never Notary, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many of our neighbors here in Ocala. From signing papers at kitchen tables to meeting at local coffee shops, I love the flexibility of this job.

However, I’ve noticed that when I tell people I’m a mobile notary, I often get some funny looks or the same few questions. There are a lot of myths floating around out there! Today, I wanted to clear the air and share the truth about what we actually do.

1. "Is this actually legal?"

The Myth: Mobile notaries aren't as "official" as the ones in a bank or a law office. The Truth: Totally false! We go through the exact same commissioning process, background checks, and legal requirements as any stationary notary. The only difference? I have wheels! Whether I’m at your office or your favorite park, my seal carries the same legal weight as any office-bound notary in Florida.

2. "It’s going to cost a fortune."e

Another misconception is that mobile notaries charge exorbitant fees for their services. While it's true that mobile notaries often charge travel fees in addition to standard notary fees, these costs are usually reasonable considering the convenience they offer. Many clients find the time and effort saved by using a mobile notary well worth the additional expense.

More Myths Debunked

Understanding the full scope of what mobile notaries do can further dispel misconceptions and highlight their value in various situations.

Myth 3: Mobile Notaries Can Give Legal Advice

Some people mistakenly believe that mobile notaries can provide legal advice. In reality, notaries, whether mobile or stationary, are prohibited from giving legal guidance or advice. Their primary role is to witness signatures and ensure that documents are signed willingly and by the correct individuals.

Myth 4: Mobile Notaries Are Available 24/7

While mobile notaries offer flexible scheduling, they are not available around the clock. Each notary sets their own hours, and availability can vary. It's important for clients to schedule appointments in advance to ensure their needs are met in a timely manner.

The Final Myth

Mobile notaries provide a crucial service, and understanding their true capabilities can help you make informed decisions.
